Recently-announced Maemo 6 DRM thing was a clear indication that maemo is not going to be an “open enough” device (by “open enough” I mean device that may be fixed and enhanced by it’s users while keeping it’s original full functionality).
Announced today Meego thing is a clear indication that maemo is not going to be. Period. Instead, there will be an arm build of Moblin, branded under different name.
Although maemo is (was?) far not debian, there was a feeling that with help of the community, maemo could involve into a good thing. That feeling was hurt seriously by Maemo 6 DRM announcement. And it was killed today.
